What is being recalled and what is going on?
In a statement by HP and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, there have been 29 reports of LS-15 AC power cords sold with HP/Compaq laptops and accessories, overheating and melting. The cord pulls out of one end of the AC adapter posing a risk of fire and burn hazard to customers. These power cords came with HP/Compaq laptops, mini notebooks, as well as accessories such as docking stations.
What is HP doing about it?
As part of HP’s commitment to provide the highest quality of service to their customers, HP is recalling the power cords from affected products sold from September 2010 through June 2012. HP customers affected will be eligible to receive a replacement cord for each affected and verified, recalled AC power cord at no cost.
