Ransomware Playbook Released by Canadian Government to Help Fight Cyberattacks

The internet has become crucial to our way of life. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, more of us are working and studying from home, and conducting business online; while companies, schools, and other organizations have had to shift their quickly environments and systems to allow for it. The number of connected users has skyrocketed, the amount of internet traffic is unprecedented, and not all systems and environments are up to security standards.

Cybercriminals have taken advantage of this online surge and the security protection gaps.

Canada’s signals intelligence agency has reported that global ransomware attacks increased by 151% in the first half of 2021 compared with 2020.

It’s more important than ever that we take steps to remain cyber safe, to protect your users and your business.

The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security – Canada’s national technical authority for cyber security, has recently released a resource aimed at IT leaders in small and medium businesses and local governments.  It is a 30-page Ransomware Playbook containing advice on how to defend against ransomware and recover from an attack.

While a Ransomware Playbook is helpful and much of the advice easy to understand, it is the resources and capabilities to implement its recommendations that can be difficult for many businesses. Fortunately, we can and are here to help you with that. We have people, solutions, and services programs, that can help to protect your business from cyberattacks.
